In the recent article “Critical Gaming Pedagogy,” Francesco Crocco (that’s me) explains that game-based learning can be used to reproduce existing social conditions, what he calls “gaming-to-work,” or to foster critical thinking about education and society. As an example of Critical Gaming, he provides a review of his use of a modified version of Monopoly to teach the inequalities and effects of social class.
